HELP THE GOLDEN
PRIDE MARCHING BAND Manning High School's Golden Pride Marching Band will represent South Carolina and march in the Presidential Inaugural Parade on January 20 in Washington, D.C. For the band's 85 members to participate in the parade, it needed to raise $40,000 to defray costs. Thanks to efforts by band members, this Web site and generous gifts from around the state, the money was raised by the end of 2008. More can be done But more needs to be done to enhance the band's future. The Golden Pride can use donations to repair and buy instruments and to purchase new uniforms for the coming season. To provide help to this band today, we encourage you to make a credit-card contribution by clicking the button below. Those interested in providing more help to the school's band should contact band director Ray Francis at 803-435-4417 or mail a donation to Manning High School, 2155 Paxville Highway, Manning, SC 29102. Checks can be made payable to Manning High School and earmarked "Presidential Inauguration." All donations are tax-deductible. Background The Golden Pride is one of 1,382 organizations to submit an application to march in the parade. MHS Golden Pride will be the only S.C. participant. The Golden Pride played for President-elect Obama three times during the campaign season.
